PENN QTR: Roots of Development Annual Event at Shakespeare Theater May 29th

Roots of Development, a DC based non-profit organization that works to support and promote sustainable community development on the Haitian island of La Gonave (an island just off of the mainland) is having their big annual event in DC in a couple of weeks (on May 29th).
Roots of Development is a non-profit which supports sustainable development within communities in Haiti.
"Our motto is development without dependency, meaning we are interested in supporting projects on the island but we want the projects to be one’s that the community members are capable of sustaining themselves. All of the projects we do are chosen by a group of community leaders on the island. Some projects we have supported in the past include building clean water systems, public toilets, starting a women’s wholesale business, and community leadership training sessions."
Every year Roots of Development host an annual event in DC. This year’s event is called Les Jardins de La Gonave (The Garden’s of La Gonave) and will feature extensive floral decorations in order to create the atmosphere of a Caribbean garden. 
 Guest speaker’s at the event include former Prime Minister of Haiti, Laurent Lamothe, Miss Haiti /Universe 2014, the Deputy Mayor of DC Brian Kenner, and Attorney General of DC Karl Racine
In addition to the speakers, the event will have a DJ playing Haitian music, traditional Haitian food, and cocktails. 

The event is on the evening of May 29th at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC at 610 F Street NW. VIP admission is at 5:30 pm, General public admission is at 7 pm.
