SHAW: Blagden Alley About to Explode with New Street Art

NICE UPDATE:  7/26/2015  Photographs and Content

Good News!!  Mural #2 is complete
I will check on the artist, but I believe it may be  Lisa Marie Talhammer, whoever it is its startling, what the photo doesn't show is the amount of metallic gold paint used...well worth the visit, along with Aniekan's piece. (There is also an older mural opposite this new one..one of the Alley's originals (below)
Survivor in the Alley - I love this one
The other mural in this section of the Alley has had some additional work done as well (still a little hard to make it all out, but be patient) with the addition of figures and 'heads' (below)

Still in Progress!!
So, great to see the works all progressing, adding color and fun to Blagden - its hard to wait for the mural project to be completed....more to come on this story

ORIGINAL POST:

Aniekan Udofia with Mia DuVall are almost done with the latest mural in Blagden Alley. But wait there's more!!

The first mural is only one of a cluster of new murals that will decorate Blagden Alley. Its a little unclear whether there will be 4 or 5 artworks, I have identified 3 locations so far. The first new one on the large garage door of 926 N Street NW (Rear) has already started. Another, which I understand is by  Bill Worrell has been outlined on the garage door adjacent to 926 N (rear). The final one that I have identified is across the alley from 926 N St (rear), here the 'canvas' is being cleaned up (and an old mural removed).
In Progress - on main garage door of 926 N (rear)
I am aware of some of the artist's. Aniekan Udofia with Mia DuVall, as we have been reporting on. Also one peice will be done by Bill Worrell, and one will be created by Lisa Marie Talhammer. I have been told that DC born, NY based artist Iona Brown has some involvement, but as yet I am not sure of how.
Bill Worrell's "A System of Politics and Art"  - sketched out Chinatown
In my opinion, no matter how many pieces or who the artists are, the whole idea of bringing art back to the Alley is very welcome and an injection of color and fun that has recently been disappearing from the neighborhood.
