WASHINGTON DC: VIDA Fitness 5K Run/Walk to Benefit Thrive DC on Oct. 23

Local Radio Personalities Tommy McFly, Kelly Collis and Jen Richer will Host the Morning Race at Hain’s Point

Runners take your mark! In an effort to make fitness a fun and engaging activity, VIDA Fitness is hosting its second annual 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 23 at East Potomac Park. The local fitness club chain will donate proceeds from the event to Thrive DC – a local non-profit organization committed to preventing and ending homelessness in the DC area. Local radio personalities Tommy McFly, Kelly Collis and Jen Richer, co-hosts of 94.7 Fresh FM’s The Tommy Show, will emcee the race and awards ceremony. The 5K Run/Walk is open to the public and participants can submit their event registrations at: www.vidathrive5k.com
Nicknamed Hains Point by locals, East Potomac Park’s flat running course, which circles the Potomac River, will again serve as the backdrop for the event. Known for being both dog and stroller friendly, VIDA’s 5K Run/Walk is geared toward families, kids, weekend athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Runners and spectators are encouraged to bring new socks on race day to donate to Thrive. During bag drop and check in, Thrive DC will have a table and donation box to collect new socks of all sizes and styles. The Thrive DC sock drive is open to anyone and held at all VIDA locations beginning August 23 – exactly two months before the 5K Run/Walk.

Events and prizes for the race include:
  • Pre-Race Happy Hour Packet Pick-Up at Penthouse Pool Club-U Street on Friday, October 21 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. – light fare and discounted beverages with funds benefiting Thrive DC.
  • Poolside cabana rental with bottle service from the Penthouse Pool Club.
  • VIDA memberships, personal training sessions and guest passes.
  • Gift cards from Capitol City Brewing Company, Aura Spa and Bang Salon.
Parking space is limited at East Potomac Park, so VIDA encourages race participants to leave their cars at home. Convenient methods of transportation include walking, Capital Bikeshare, DC Metro, Uber or taxicab.
