WASHINGTON DC: Where to Find Warmer Cocktails to Toast the Holiday Season - Part Two

This winter you can sip through the holidays with warm cocktails from these DC-area restaurants;
The second of a two part look at who's offering great winter cocktails.

1789 Restaurant, located in a historic Federal townhouse at 1226 36th Street, NW, 20007, will showcase a warm cocktail this winter, a Hot Buttered Rum, (pictured above) which is made from a combination of brown butter-infused rum, warm spiced apple cider, cinnamon and whipped cream.  For something creamy and festive, try the Classic Eggnog. Executive Chef Samuel Kim combines whole milk, heavy cream, and egg yolks to dry ingredients: sugar, rum extract, nutmeg, almond extract, cloves, guar guam and Lambda Carrageenan.  The mixture is then prepared sous-vide by placing it in a zip-close bag before being submerged into an immersion circulated water bath.  The eggnog is cooked at 162 Fahrenheit for ten minutes and given a good stir before cooking for another ten minutes.  The cocktail is then served chilled and topped with freshly grated nutmeg.  Both cocktails are priced at $13, and will be available December 1-31, 2016
