9th Street "Bursting' with Activity

Update: This posting is no longer current and has been replaced with a new posting that was updated in July 2013

Every block of 9th Street, between L and O is filling up fast with restaurants and business's. Ali Bagheri and Daniel O'Brien, have 'literally' cornered the marketplace at the 9th Street entrance to Naylor Court, with Seasonal Pantry (a specialty food market), SUNdeVich (an independent sandwich shop) and now A & D (a neighborhood bar).
A new cafe, Thally, a bistro style restaurant, promises an opening mid-2013 (1316 9th) between Seasonal Pantry and Vita lounge, the old Mood Lounge is now Vita Lounge, with the addition of Penthouse 9 (PH9) on the upper floor.

Interior Designer Daryl Carters up-scale workshop and showroom anchors (the half block), at 1320 9th.

The effect of the new O Street market,(including a new Giant, and an announced Dolci Gelati Café), which is on track for a Fall Opening, and the construction of the Marriott Marque,4 blocks south on 9th Street, slated for opening Late Spring 2014, has 9th Street transitioning , building and remodeling itself  for the future.

Several other business's have expressed their intent, some more likely than others. Fino, Italian Restaurant of Georgetown fame plans a move to 1230 9th Street (next door to Wagtime), and Baby Wale, a casual eatery from Tom Power of Corduroy fame, located right next door to Corduroy (1122 9th Street)

Building plans are approved for the corner of 9th and N Street that will feature Condo's and Retail (Old City Green site) and the same group PGN Architects have 2 other projects approved on 9th. One, at 1212 9th Street, will be four stories tall and include a small ground floor retail space; the other will sit at 917 M Street, but its longest side will run along the alley.

Change is the word for 9th Street. Holding on to the essence of the neighborhood  will be the challenge for its residents
