Two previously announced retailers have hung their (window) shingles at City Center. UK Clothier Burberry and French retailer Zadig & Voltaire have their spaces defined and boy, all these additions make the mouth water....here goes;
Last week it looked like this

Around the corner on 10th Street NW, where the walk-through crosses 10th Street the stage is set. International Fashion Icons prevail New York's Kate Spade, Germany's Hugo Boss, and now Paris's Zadig & Voltaire. (I have covered the Kate Spade & Hugo Boss locations below) So here is the Zadig & Voltaire space, and it is big!

Seems that each day City Center gets 'more' cool. Today, much talked about and lately confirmed, Kate Spade has 'marked their spot'. Located in the 825 10th Street building, the huge location takes up the ground floor from the 825 lobby entrance to the walk-through between 8th and 9th Streets. Kate Spade is advertising for employees for this prime location........

Iconic British luxury brand, Burberry have cleared permitting to  perform a 'tenant layout' at 970 Eye St NW. (very close to the new Longchamp - see below) No big surprise here, it has been rumored for 6 months at least. No opening date as yet, but we are watching for that and will update as soon as we find out. Burberry has been at 1155 Connecticut Ave. NW, since 1984, it was reported late last year that the lease for that location was 'on the market

According to (source)DC Racked  "French retailer Zadig & Voltaire will open a boutique in Washington, D.C. at the new City Center, a press rep for the brand has confirmed. The store is slated to open in April and will carry items from Zadig & Voltaire's Man, Woman, Child and accessories lines." Check out their website and get very excited.

In Addition:  (source)Washington Business Journal's Rebecca Cooper is reporting that Richard Sandoval is bringing "Mango Tree, an upscale Thai restaurant..... will be among the new dining offerings at City Center....
The flagship Mango Tree is in London and features dishes from Thailand's four regions, according to its website, including "pla pow, a grilled fillet of sea bass wrapped in banana leaf and fresh lemon grass served with spicy lime sauce, larb pla tuna, a north-eastern-style tuna salad with dry chilli and lemon grass or gaeng kiew wan gai, corn-fed chicken in green curry." Photos on the restaurant's site show tables with white tablecloths and brightly colored napkins."......I need to get confirmed sources on this, but what a win for City Center and DC if this happens  Confirmed

Original Post:
As you walk around City Center you can't help but notice there is still a preponderance of paper covered store windows, but fear not, the folks at City Center promised a high-end shopping experience and the first stores are quietly cleaning, building-out and stocking.
Tumi, ("Tumi is recognized as the world's leading brand of luxury travel, business and lifestyle accessories") was the first to open a few weeks back.
 Allen Edmonds ("offers the finest men's dress and casual shoes available, featuring classic American styling and fine craftsmanship") is due to open Wednesday the 12th February and ....

Longchamp ("French luxury House Longchamp was founded in Paris in 1948, Longchamp luggage, handbags and accessories have a worldwide reputation for craftsmanship, quality, which now extends to shoes and ready-to-wear collections".)  are actively looking for a construction company to "fit-out" there location.
In addition, Kate Spade reportedly has a lease, (there website is advertising for staff @ City Center) and Burberry has been rumored  to be planning a move. Reports recently in the Washington press claim that an Apple Store will not be part of City Center or downtown and another retail group from the UK, Top Shop, have decided not to open a store in DC, choosing West Springfield instead. To me the reported loss of Apple is a major opportunity for City Center, if reports were correct, Apple had the prime spot (NY Ave & 11th) and, well, Top Shop is a high low-end shopping experience anyway.
Oh, and lest I forget, for the "foodies" be patient...its all coming together
