Franklin School Building Update - DC Picks ICE
DC Picks ICE - The Institute for Contemporary Expression and ThinkFoodGroup
So it looks like Franklin School will feature, at least in part, an Art Gallery and a new Jose Andres restaurant (ThinkFoodGroup is a Jose venture group) According to tweets from Aaron Wiener at Washington City Paper, "The Franklin School on 13th Street will become an exhibit space, restaurant, cafe, and bookstore."
NOTE: According to a report in the WBJ the folks at ICE are partnered with developer EastBanc Inc. (who are working with the District on Eastern Markets Hines School). I know that the original ICE bid was with ThinkFoodGroup, so I will need to research whether this is a change, or an addition...I will update the post once the dust clears.
OK UPDATE: ICE won the bid, EastBanc Inc. will develop and Jose(ThinkFoodGroup) will build a new restaurant - final and confirmed.
Washington City Paper has a good read on the ICE Bid ---- Here
More to come on this as the details become known....
