Roots of Development is a non-profit which supports sustainable development within communities in Haiti.
"Our motto is development without dependency, meaning we are interested in supporting projects on the island but we want the projects to be one’s that the community members are capable of sustaining themselves. All of the projects we do are chosen by a group of community leaders on the island. Some projects we have supported in the past include building clean water systems, public toilets, starting a women’s wholesale business, and community leadership training sessions."Every year Roots of Development host an annual event in DC. This year’s event is called Les Jardins de La Gonave (The Garden’s of La Gonave) and will feature extensive floral decorations in order to create the atmosphere of a Caribbean garden.
