SHAW: 11th and M Street Construction Causes Damage to 1017 M Street NW

 

Big Oops! for the development and construction plan for the corner 11th and M Streets. The wall of the adjacent building at 1017 M Street, a landmark building best known for the 11M Coin Laundry, has pulled away and is in danger of partial collapse. Evidently the vibration from the construction caused the problem. Hopefully, the wall can be fixed without further damage to the historic building, and construction can proceed safely.
The project, which the developer estimated would take 16 months to complete, will deliver 80 condo's to the neighborhood.
