SHAW: Rito Loco Plan for May Opening on Florida Ave. NW

 Its been a year since we first had news that Daniel Diaz and Louie Hankins, co-owners of Rito Loco, planned to open a 'brick & mortar' location at 600 Florida Avenue NW, in Shaw. While the food truck business still remains super popular there seem to have been a number of delays in the progress. Well, today EaterDC ran an article that states that the project is back on, and getting ready to go into overdrive (for a projected May opening). Here is the main portion of EaterDC's report;

The popular food truck, which serves about 100 people an hour during peak times, will offer an expanded menu at its restaurant, coming to 606 Florida Ave. NW, in Shaw. 

They're hoping to kick off construction this Monday, owner Louie Hankins said. They'll offer five tacos at the restaurant, with fillings like fish, lobster and a vegetarian option. They'll also serve "fitness bowls" with quinoa instead of rice.

The owner is planning to open several locations. 
Hankins is looking to open 15-20 locations in the D.C. area over the next five to seven years, as well as locations in South Florida, San Francisco and Europe. (EaterDC)

It would be great if the restaurant gets to open in May as planned, Daniel, Louie, we have been waiting to long!!!
