Shaw: When Fandom Wears a Cap and Gown: Academic Perspectives on Harry Potter, Monday, March 9, 7pm-8:30pm

The Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Library continues with its excellent series of evening events with a talk on Harry Potter - this time with speaker Tolanda Henderson a Librarian at George Washington University. She has presented her work on the library at Hogwarts at several academic conferences and is currently researching Harry Potter and visual culture.
Fans of Harry Potter have created everything from handicrafts and artwork to websites and conventions. What happens, though, when those fans have advanced and apply the questions of their academic disciplines to the story of the boy who lived?

This workshop will explore scholarship on J.K. Rowling’s best selling novels and investigate how academics in various disciplines have drawn upon the works as inspiration for their own writings. RSVP required (see below)

Chocolate frogs and butterbeer will be served! Dressing up in House colors or full cos-play STRONGLY encouraged!
