Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) Announces Schedule for SXSW in Austin

The Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) today announced their official schedule of planned activities at this year’s South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in Austin, TX. From March 13 through March 17, WDCEP will create a “DC footprint” in Austin, Texas to present the District at one of the largest tech conferences and music festivals in the world.
The We DC campaign is a celebration of the city’s talent, and its vibrant creative economy. An initiative by the WDCEP, the We DC platform is designed to support, engage, foster, and promote the DC technology, creative, and business economies at SXSW.
At SXSW, the WDCEP will host the We DC House, an interactive space open to SXSW attendees to learn about Washington, D.C. during their time in Austin, TX. Held at Crave Restaurant, located directly across from the Austin Convention Center (340 E. 2nd Street), the We DC House five-day activation will showcase Washington. D.C’s technology and creative economies hosting fireside chats with technology leaders and music, film, and tech events throughout its week-long activation.

Weber, WDCEP Director of Marketing & Communications. “Washington, D.C. is truly the place where people come to change the world and at SXSW, we invite everyone to our We DC House to learn how DC’s community of business leaders, innovators, musicians, filmmakers, and artists are doing on that every day in their D.C. neighborhood.”
WDCEP will kick off Washington, D.C.’s arrival to SXSW with a SXSW welcome celebration featuring special guest Mayor Muriel Bowser on Friday, March 13, starting at 9PM at the We DC House.

We DC Lounge (Daily) – From March 14-17 from 10AM-6PM, SXSW attendees are welcome to connect up devices while connecting with other SXSW attendees, enjoy a refreshing beverage or two, and set up shop at the We DC house. Breakfast and lunch will be served.


TechBreakfast Spectacular (March 14th) - WDCEP welcomes SXSW attendees to come, participate, and experience a national phenomena where the latest technology is shared in a “show and tell” fashion. The breakfast social will feature 25 Speed Demos, 15 Kiosks, We DC giveaways, networking and breakfast hosted by Crave Restaurant.


We DC Start Up Showcase (March 14) – SXSW attendees are invited to learn how DC’s technology, interactive, and creative startups are leading the charge in the nation’s capital. With 30-featured startup companies, connect with some of Washington, D.C.’s burgeoning entrepreneurs to learn how you can partner, become involved, or invest in their product or service.

DC Film Brunch (March 15) - From the city that captures more issue-based films than any other city in the nation, join the Washington, D.C.’s community of filmmakers to discuss how they are hoping to make an impact on the world through film.


We DC Party (March 16)
– SXSW attendees can mingle and network with DC officials, business leaders, artists, tech entrepreneurs, music enthusiasts, and DC’s film experts to learn why they love doing what they love in the nation’s capital.


DC Music Brunch, Presented by Rock the Vote (March 17) – This event will celebrate DC-based and DC-originated musicians on Convergence Day. Guests should be prepared for surprise performances, explosive collaborations, and the opportunity for the music community to come to together in celebration of the DC music industry.

WDCEP will close out the week with the SXSW Official We DC Music Showcase (March 17)
