As there is (and will continue to be) ongoing construction at the
Morrison Clark Inn expansion, I decided that Quick Shots made more sense than adding to the existing articles.
Forrester Construction has been continuing with their demolition of the Chinese Church, and the renovation of the adjacent Brownstone. As you will see from the pictures below, the removal of all but the street facing facade and (partial) side of the Chinese Church is about complete. My own observation was one of surprise, that so much of the Church has been removed. You can see for yourselves below.
|
The exterior facade is all that is left of the Chinese Church |
|
Seeing the Condo's and Apartments behind gives a real feeling of how close all these buildings will be |
|
The only other (partial) wall remaining is at the left side of the Chinese Church |
|
From the rear of the job-site you can clearly see the extent of the demolition, and I assume what will remain |
So, its all very dramatic. It will be interesting to follow Forrester first down, expansion of hotel garage space, then up, incorporating the Brownstone, the facade of the Chinese Church and of course the Alley Stable (that has already had its structural problems)
You will be able to follow all the construction progress here

6/9/2013: The Stable, as viewed from L Street NW. Clearly visible cosmetic damage from past additions |
Quick Shots is a new feature for the site, where there is little or
no content, but something of interest we will now issue a Quick Shot.
