If you have ever been wowed by a book cover, or illustration be prepared to be wowed again. The quality of the pieces that I was able to view was outstanding. All of the galleries rooms are being used, as this is not a small exhibit (it may take 2 lunchtime visits). This is not one to miss!!
I will be attending the opening reception on Thursday, so look for updates to this piece later this week and hopefully I will also have a few photographs of the exhibits to share.
Update 6/12/2013
Thanks to the very good people of The Illustrators Club of DC, I have been able to take some photographs pre-exhibit. I have to say it was very difficult to choose which pictures to show, there is just so much amazing art on display. I settled on these six (below) as representative of the works on display, and to give you an idea of the mix. Based on my experience at choosing which photographs to use, I don't believe that I would have been able to choose the winning pieces, and the 'pulling out of hair' trying to decide must have been a feature of the jury's selection process. OK, the pictures**;

Co-Chair of IC16, Meredith Nelson and IC Treasurer, Joe Azar welcome attendees |
The event, which was light on speeches, featured a cake cutting, a wine bar and a table of finger food, well catered by Whole Foods (P Street NW). But the real stars of the evening were the artists and their artworks.

With many of the artists in attendance, there was opportunity for attendees to engage in conversation and discussion of the artworks that added a personal perspective to the evening.

And of course this being a Sweet Sixteen celebration, the evening was brought to a close with the cake cutting.

A little anticipation, for a piece of the cake!! |
The exhibition runs through July 12th at the Edison Place Gallery on 8th Street NW
My thanks to Joe Azar, Nargol Arefi and Meredith Nelson, for allowing me the freedom to roam about taking photo's of the opening event and for being such gracious hosts.

David, THANK YOU for this wonderful display and announcement! This is our third exhibit at Pepco's Gallery. We were fortunate to have some excellent new artists in this show, both professionals and students, as well as exciting new work from past winners.
