First Look Inside - Giant at City Market at O

Like anything else that grows, it needs feeding. Shaw is growing, and now it has a supply of food. In fact 72000 sq ft of awesome.
To start here is the opening schedule;

• 2pm Thursday 21st - Soft Opening (just a few hours to check it out)
• 6pm Thursday 21st - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
• 6am Friday 22nd - OPEN for Business. (Hour are 6am till 12 Midnight Daily)

Before the Photo Gallery a few notes;
Giant Food have hired 172 people for this facility, 132 people are from Shaw or local, of these 35 - 40 where original O St Giant employees that are returning. (Bravo Giant)
The Cafeteria has access from 7th Street NW, O Street NW (both entrances will be open 10am till 6pm) as well as from within the store. The Cafeteria is 2 story's and will serve wine and beer in addition to coffee etc. The Cafeteria hours are 10am till 10pm.

As huge as this store is, there are signposts all over

The Bakery is ready with cake and bread

and a colorful array of cupcakes

You are now entering "O Street Market"

The Grab and Go counter includes cooked items (now separated from the Deli) and a Sushi Bar (prepared in-house daily) with a seating area

The Deli has one of the largest selections you are likely to find and.......

They have a robot!!  Swipe your Giant Card, place your order...you will be called when ready

Green Grocery section may be the biggest you have ever seen

Fresh Meat and Seafood, before you leave the 'Old Quarter' and head into the new. (FYI. the pre-prepared meats and fishes continue here, into the new section, so there is nice continuity)

Wave (or salute), as you say goodbye to the old and enter the new

OK, did I mention you need good comfortable walking shoes?

Bright display's, ton's of sale items await in the modern section (no more photo's here, yes it looks like a supermarket)

Also in the new section is the Pharmacy

Of the 20 check outs, 6 are self check out

 So there you have it, never thought I would get excited about a supermarket but this is a special place (and huge) Hopefully photographs of food isles and counters was not to boring.
