Local Shaw Artist at Downtown Holiday Market in Penn Qtr.
Local artist and collage photographer Matthew Parker has a spot in the Holiday Market in the Penn Quarter at 8th and F Streets NW.
Matthew describes his work "My photographic collages embody movement of time, experience, memory and spatial relationships as variables captured in the scene. I begin all collages with a sketch. Then, I rotate the camera to achieve the different angles and layer each photo with my observance of a place, during different times of the day or year to create a dynamic scene."
As an example, see below. A View of Shaw, taken from the rooftop at the Whitman Condominium on M Street NW;
Viewing Matthews work is best done in person, so get on down to the Holiday Market...but if you can't make it or are reading from out of town, you can see many examples at Matthews web site Shaw and NOMA residents you can visit Big Bear Cafe at 1st & R Streets NW, where Matthew's work is currently on display.
There are collages from many places in DC and I am sure that you can find wall space for such creative work.
Look for Matthew Parker at the Downtown Holiday Market, #B-24 8th & F Street NW, from Friday 6th through Thursday 12th December
