A new restaurant is soon to open in the MVT. The name is Silo, located at 919 5th Street NW. (1/2 block down from Busboys and Poets on the other side of K Street) Good location, with plenty of foot traffic going to and from Chinatown. I spoke to the folks at Silo yesterday, and they are hoping to open before the end of the year. This is a property that I started following back in June...
.check it out we originally thought the restaurant name was 'Success', this is actually the name of the owner/company. The name is definitely "SILO"
According to a Washington Post article,
"Veteran Chef George Vetsch is working for first-time
restaurant owner Reza Akhavan at the forthcoming Silo at 919 Fifth St.
NW. The name, says the former general manager of Shaw’s Tavern,
is a nod both to the industrial interior he’s created and the facility
used to store grain. Akhavan’s 60-seat dining room near Mount Vernon
Square will be “modern American with Swiss and French influences.”
(Vetsch hails from Switzerland.)"
Here are some early photographs (more information and pictures coming soon)

The exterior is misleading, its been like this for a while, but inside... |
|
The bar is in, the taps are installed |
|
Nice Skylights brighten the space |
|
Lighting is installed and compliments the 'loft feel" |
|
Still a little work to do, but some of the furniture is delivered, and the major wall work looks complete |
Silo looks to be a great addition to the MVT, and likely will fit in well with the growing neighborhood
