WASHINGTON DC: La Colombe Leases for New Location on Florida Avenue NW

La Colombe Coffee is not finished with its expansion in DC. The New location is snuggled between 14th Street NW, 13th Street NW, U Street and Shaw at 1328 - 1348 Florida Avenue NW. The new location will be in the old Manhattan Laundry building, part of another Douglas Development Corp. renovation. Work is already in process redeveloping the historic building into a mixed-use project with about 70,000 sq ft+ of office space and 8,000sq ft of retail on the ground floor. La Colombe will be taking approximately 2,500 sq ft for there new coffee shop
According to the Douglas Development Web Site, the tenants will be WeWork, La Colombe and The Franklin (which is another Geoff Dawson project).

A pretty cool building is getting some pretty cool tenants

I love the history of these buildings so here is a little info, taken from Douglas Development Corp's Web;

"The complex originally housed the traction facility for a streetcar company. The oldest building on the site, the west building at 1346 Florida Ave, was built in 1877. The complex became a printing plant in 1892 and it was converted into a laundry in 1905."
