SHAW: Beau Thai's Noodle House, BKK Cookshop Launches Fall Menu

BKK has launched its Fall Menu - oh boy' got to make a food run - notably, they have bulked up their noodle offerings further defining BKK as a Thai noodle house. The Shanghai Noodles, Bangkok Spicy Noodles, Suki Stir-fry, and Suki Noodle Bowl are all new menu items. Of course beyond their noodle stir-fry's and noodle bowls, they have amazing appetizers, a seasonal cocktail on draft, DIY mixed drinks and a solid wine/sake/beer list. Wow!
So Ralph Brabham at BKK has sent me a kinda FAQ about BKK that I think is a good thing for you all to read:

What exactly does "BKK" mean?

BKK is the airport code for Bangkok, Thailand. While the core flavors of BKK's menu will always be Thai, our executive chef and owner Ashcara Vigsittaboot will reference dishes and tastes from other places, like our Chinese-influenced steamed buns and our Korean-influenced Fried Tofu.

What's on the menu?

Deliciousness.

More specifically, BKK is a Thai noodle house with a slew of tasty appetizers and sides.

BKK's noodle offerings have grown since its early days of operation. BKK now features both noodle bowls and noodle stir-fry's. Here's a sampling of BKK's noodle dishes:

  • Bangkok Spicy Noodles - A gluten free dish of rice noodles tossed with ground pork, crushed peanuts and bean sprouts in a spicy Thai Dressing.
  • Boat Noodle Bowl - Your choice of pork or beef in a spicy, complex broth, with herbs, rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, and bean sprouts.
  • Vegetarian Noodle Bowl - A vegan noodle soup of rice noodles, tempura vegetables and tofu in a house-made vegetarian broth.
  • Suki Noodle Stir-Fry - Glass noodles with watercress, cabbage, and Chinese broccoli with your choice of chicken, beef or pork.
  • Appetizers include Pork Jerky, Fried Tofu, Steamed Buns, and Thai Chicken Wings. And oh-my-goodness, you need to work your way through all of our appetizers.

Did someone say "Cocktail on Draft"?

While we're amped about our entire beverage menu, we're most excited about our seasonal cocktail on draft. Currently, it's a spritzer of Aperol, Dolin Blanc Vermouth, and lime juice. You can have it on the rocks one of three ways: on its own, with a ~5 ounce pour of Vinho Verde, or with a 1.5 ounce pour of the spirit of your choice (we recommend Green Hat Gin).
Our other mixed drinks come in DIY format: a 1.5 ounce pour of the spirit of your choice served on ice with a mixer on the side. This format led one customer to describe BKK as "like Dan's Cafe if it was Asian and classy and had delicious food."
We have Singha on tap and a handful of Japanese craft beers. We also have a really great wine and sake list.

What about Happy Hour?!

Happy hour at BKK runs Monday through Friday, 4-7 PM.
During happy hour, all glasses of wine are just $5, Singha (draft and bottle) is half price, and select appetizers are half price!

Is beauty only skin deep?

Of course not, but we've done a dramatic overhaul of the former Beau Thai space and think it's really pretty. Gold leafed walls, custom wire mesh lighting, high top communal seating and more make the interior inviting and fun. Outside we've added big red umbrellas, picnic tables and new bistro tables. Overall, we think the look effectively embraces all that we want BKK to be: a fun, casual atmosphere in which to eat and drink awesomeness with friends and family.
