PALISADES: Master Sommelier Dinner at BlackSalt with Jackson Family Estates - July 8th

Master Sommeliers Lead Seven Course “Sommelier Smackdown” Wine Dinner with Jackson Family Estates at BlackSalt.
 
On Wednesday, July 8, BlackSalt will partner with Jackson Family Estates to host a seven-course wine dinner featuring dishes from BlackSalt Chef Mike Huff and wines from the Jackson portfolio. Leading the tasting will be two educators from Jackson Family Estates, Thomas Price and Emily Papach, both holders of Master Sommelier certificates; the highest distinction in the global wine industry (there are only 234 Master Sommeliers in the world).

Thomas and Emily will each choose their own pairings for the seven-course meal, which includes seasonal highlights from Chef Huff such as soft shell crabs and other seafood dishes including oysters and Spanish turbot. Guests will enjoy both pairings with each course, and at the end of dinner a vote will determine the crowd favorite declaring either Thomas or Emily the winner. 

Jackson Family Estates carries wine from the world’s leading producing regions including Bordeaux, Tuscany, Willamette Valley and others. The wine dinner menu features: 

Coromandel Oyster
Italian Ossetra Caviar, Cucumber Mignonette

Japanese Hiramasa Sashimi
Fresh Wasabi, Pickled Local Melon, Radish

Crispy Soft Shell Crab
Corn Risotto, Sweet Peas, Smoked Guanciale

Spanish Turbot
House Gnocchi, Wild Mushrooms, Shaved White Truffle

Beef Duo
Roasted Barrel of Ribeye, Braised Deckle, Baby Vegetables, Red Wine Jus

Pecorino Oro Antico Cheese
Local Honey, Toasted Hazelnuts, Grilled Bread

Assorted House Made Cookies by Pastry Chef Susan Wallace
