Wow!! winner of Chef of the Year at last nights RAMMYawards, and Casa Luca looks to open in the next week (speculation) in one of the openings of the year, good summer for Chef Fabio.
Announced earlier this year, Casa Luca a new Italian restaurant from Chef Fabio Trabocchi is taking over the space, formerly Againn, at 1099 New York Avenue, NW.
The signs went up in the windows on 11th Street, the actual entrance is located on 11th as it was for Againn, and anticipation rose.
Some information about the new venture leaked out, but not very much. Today I was passing by and noticed the ABRA notice is now posted, and if its accurate then we have a little more idea of the plan to entice.
The nature of operation states " New Italian restaurant featuring traditional and updated cooking from the Marache Region in Italy. Inside capacity will be 132 (load 160), with sidewalk cafe seating for 40.
The License application also includes live entertainment and dancing for brunch and special events.
Times are given as Sunday thru Saturday 8am - 2am (For inside service)
Sunday thru Saturday 11.30am till 12am (For sidewalk service)
Of note, the plan was to be open in June, the License has a Roll Call Hearing of June 10th, and a Protest Hearing Date of July 31st, so I am guessing with no protests the restaurant will be able to serve alcohol after the 10th of June.
Previously publicized, the Menu will include
"· Montefeltro Flatbread “Crescia” with Broccoli Rabe
· “Chichirichì di Offida” Stuffed with Onions and Roasted Peppers
· Mussels Alicia with Tomato “Marinara”
· San Leo Ravioli of Greens, Parmigiano, Lemon Zest and Fresh Herbs
· Scrippelle ’Mbusse Crepes of Pecorino, Truffles, and Hen Consomme
· Monkfish with Baby Artichokes, Scallions and Dill “Porchetta” style
· Giuseppe “Braciole” Pork Chop with Zolfino Beans “Cacciatora” style
· Salami al Cioccolato Marchigiano in small and large sizes to share "
The renovation work has begun, and looks to be well on the way. I managed to "sneak a peak" today and take a few shots, just to give an idea of the progress. Mid-June looks possible.
