GLOVER PARK: Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will Introduce 10th Washington DC Hotel In Spring 2016
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is pleased to announce its tenth hotel property in Washington, D.C. –
Kimpton Glover Park Hotel.
Currently operating as the Savoy Suites Hotel, the 154-room property is
undergoing
a significant, multimillion-dollar renovation, rebrand and redesign of
all guest rooms, public areas, restaurant, outdoor and event spaces and
will officially join the Kimpton portfolio as the Glover Park Hotel in
spring 2016. The project is a collaboration
between Kimpton and D.C.-based developers Foxhall Partners and Iron
Point Partners as the group’s second design-driven boutique hotel in the
Washington area, following the introduction of The Carlyle – Dupont
Circle earlier this year.
Conveniently
perched high along Wisconsin Avenue in a tree-lined, residential
neighborhood on the border of Glover Archbold Park just north of
Georgetown, Kimpton Glover Park Hotel is designed
to be an alluring retreat. World renowned artist Michele Oka Doner’s
conceptual vision for the hotel was inspired by the neighborhood’s
namesake, Charles Carroll Glover – a famed banker and philanthropist who
helped reshape the nation’s capital as a city of
parks with donations of nearly 3,000 acres of parkland including nearby
Rock Creek Park. Local inspirations, matched with Oka Doner’s own
penchant for abstract organic art, combine to recreate an atmosphere
closely linked to the artist’s own atelier. Oka Doner’s
idea for a space that draws freely on bringing nature from outside-in
will be brought to life by celebrated designer Anna Busta featuring
décor that blends a metropolitan edge with familial comfort and
tranquility nestled nearby some of the city’s finest green
spaces.

From
the outside, a creatively stylized map of Rock Creek Park will adorn
the Glover Park Hotel’s eight-story façade facing Wisconsin Avenue and
is bound to become a local landmark. Inside,
guests will find themselves in a metropolitan oasis. Upscale, urban
touches such as brick walls, wood and steel finishes, rounded signature
furnishings and abstract patterns bring together a creative, youthful
vibe complimented by a sophisticated palette of
soothing green and white tones mixed with intriguing naturally-inspired
materials like lush fabrics and rich wood finishes. The finished space
will be dotted with original mixed-media artwork and handmade light
fixtures by Michele Oka Doner herself. Generously
sized guest rooms will be enveloped in similarly elegant, calm colors
and woodsy textures with naturally-finished furnishings and original
collage artwork by Oka Doner depicting branching plants found in nearby
parks. Twenty-five of Glover Park Hotel’s premier
guest rooms have sweeping views of the National Mall and Potomac River,
and 21 rooms will have kitchenettes – ideal for families and those who
plan a longer stay.

The
hotel’s top-to-bottom transformation will also include a full-service
destination-dining restaurant, a stunning new 1,860 square foot ballroom
with ample natural light for meetings and
social events of up to 150 guests, restored sophisticated outdoor
space, and a unique boutique-style signature gym from Graham King’s
Urban Athletic Club encompassing over 2,000 square feet which will offer
guests and local residents state-of-the-art equipment
and facilities and access to the city’s most sought-after fitness
trainers and classes.

It
all adds up to a serene, uptown retreat defined by modern design, local
touches and warm comfort – the kind of understated luxuriousness
expected by visitors to this corridor between Chevy
Chase and Georgetown, close to the National Cathedral, Embassy Row, and
Georgetown and American Universities, as well as Sibley Memorial and
MedStar Georgetown University Hospitals.
“We
believe that the same way Charles Glover refashioned the city, the
Kimpton Glover Park Hotel will transform hospitality in this part of
Northwest Washington when it debuts this coming
spring,” says Matthew Hurlburt, area director of operations for
Kimpton’s mid-Atlantic hotels.
The
Glover Park Hotel will, of course, offer all of Kimpton’s signature
touches, from complimentary morning coffee and tea service and nightly
hosted wine hours, to custom maps of the neighborhood
including nearby park trails, to Gaiam yoga mats in every guest room,
to luxurious bath products and 300 thread-count Frette linens, to
complimentary Wi-Fi and other perks for Kimpton Karma Rewards members.
Above all, it will provide crisp, attentive service
that never oversteps into stuffiness, enhancing the prevailing mood of
down-to-earth luxury.
Kimpton Glover Park Hotel will be located at 2505 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
