WASHINGTON DC: Pizzeria Paradiso and Veloce Celebrate December with Beer and Giving

An active December features events at both Pizzeria Paradiso and Veloce including a celebration of giving with a canned food drive and a spent grain pizza crust collaboration with DC Brau. The promotions benefit local organizations including Martha’s Table and Bread for the City. In addition, there will be a special Christmas and Hawaiian themed Monday night beer club at Birreria Paradiso on December 7.

Spent Grain Crust. Every year, for the past 5 years, Pizzeria Paradiso has partnered with DC Brau and Bread for the City on a fundraising venture where spent grains from the brewery are used to make a special pizza crust as well as loaves of bread. Proceeds from the sale of the pizzas and go directly to Bread for the City, and the restaurant also donates special loaves of spent grain bread specially for Bread for the City. This promotion started on November 27 and is available through December 24 at all Pizzeria Paradiso locations. The 9” pizza crusts will be available for $2 and the 12” crusts for $3.

Give a Can, Get a Can. On specific Wednesdays in December, Pizzeria Paradiso locations and Veloce will participate in “Give a Can, Get a Can,” a canned food holiday drive where patrons can bring in a canned good and get a can of beer in exchange. All cans will be donated to Martha’s Table. Veloce will kick off the promotion on December 2, and will also offer a complimentary pizza buffet, so patrons can enjoy a can of beer for each canned good they bring in, as well as a variety of pizzas on the house. Pizzeria Paradiso's Old Town location will host on December 9, while the Dupont Circle location will host on December 16 and the Georgetown location on December 23. 

Christmas in Hawaii. The monthly Monday Night Beer Club at Birreria Paradiso in Georgetown will be hosted on December 7 with a holiday theme that also marks the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The night will feature a lineup of Christmas beers (list below) while staff will don ugly Christmas sweaters and Hawaiian shirts. A Hawaiian pizza made with prosciutto, fontina, rosemary, pineapple and garlic will also be available. The staff will donate all of their tips for the night to DC Greens. The event runs from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

 

December Menu at Veloce. For the month of December, Veloce will offer $6 pizzas (mozzarella and Veloce tomato sauce) with $1 toppings. The special salad of the month is made with escarole, roasted potatoes, orange supremes, celery and toasted walnuts with a creamy citrus dressing. The salad is priced at $4 for a small and $8 for a large.
