SHAW: City Market at O - Neighborhood Holiday Event
Last week, the new Shaw tradition, lighting the holiday tree at City Market at O, attracted hundred's of local's. With the larger events (White House Tree Lighting, Capitol Hill Tree and even City Center DC's Tree lighting) attracting large crowds - the City Market at O event is targeted a the local community and families - and it fulfills.
A larger event that previous years, it drew so many from the surrounding Shaw neighborhood and provided a wonderful family atmosphere. 8th Street NW provided the space for the activities that included, the ever popular (kids) face-painting,
a bounce house and a huge snow globe (for family pics)
a Hot Chocolate Bar and S’mores Bar provided by Capital Candy Jar (make your own),
Entertainment was provided by a pair of Santa's Helpers (The Funny Little People),
and a tremendous band, that finished of the evening with a set of Go-Go that had quite a few folks dancing.
The tree lighting was headed up by Roadside Development & Bread for the City, and executed by
local children who happily invaded the stage....and yes, somehow or other,
snow fell on the corner of 8th and O and surprised all (kids and Adults alike) as they left the evening event.
Thankful for this year, and looking forward to next year's event.
