Hurricane Maria left millions fearful and overwhelmed with uncertainty in the face of the devastation. As the holidays draw closer, the harsh reality is that the children of Puerto Rico may have very little to celebrate during the holidays. National multicultural communications firm Comunicad will host Hope for the Holidays, a Christmas fundraiser to buy gifts and toys for the children in Puerto Rico. The fundraiser is on Sunday, December 3, 5:00-8:00 pm at Taberna del Alabardero restaurant located at 1776 I Street, NW, Washington, DC. All donations are tax deductible and proceeds will go to Comunicad’s nonprofit event partner, Hispanic Federation who will buy the gifts and distribute in Puerto Rico during Christmas and the Three Kings holiday.

Attending the fundraiser will be Erika Ender, co-author of the number one song Despacito, and Latin Grammy winner for Song of the Year, to receive Comunicad’s Cultural Beacon Award. Puerto Rican student and a junior at Carnegie Mellon University Rosana Guernica, will receive the Humanitarian Award for raising thousands of dollars to deliver emergency supplies to the island. Comunicad will present the Hero Award to David Begnaud, CBS News correspondent for his extraordinary daily reporting from Puerto Rico immediately after the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

All purchased tickets include traditional Spanish and Puerto Rican cuisine, live music by La Trulla Navideña with Rafael Ortiz y El Tumbao Urbano, a raffle for a Carnival Cruise for Two, and a Silent Auction featuring items from Washington Caps, WagTime, Gala Theatre, Via Umbria, Grand Cata, Stella & Dot, and more.
