Old City Green Reopens on Rhode Island Ave This Weekend - April 13th
Since Frank Asher closed Old City Green on 9th Street NW at the end of 2012, it looked like the neighborhood would lack a nursery and garden center.
Good News, Frank is opening Old City Farm & Guild at 925 Rhode Island Avenue NW, and the grand opening is this Saturday, April 13.
Now the rebirth means the return of a community neighbor, and a place for all of your
gardening supplies. Some signs of familiarity for those who frequented the 9th Street location are still around, and that kinda adds to the continuity.
During Saturday's opening, Frank promises some AMAZING local garden
organizations doing really cool things in the community.
You will get to see DC Central Kitchen’s pick-up truck farm!!
Snacks will be grillin’, music will be playing, and there will be fun and educational activities for the kids!
Seed bomb making -seed planting, dried herb crafts and sign painting.
Frank also told me that the artist responsible for the 'street art' (below) on his garden sheds - only showing one - will be there doing some new paintings.
Come out, enjoy the weather and get your gardening supplies from 9 am
to 5 pm. and enjoy the snacks, music, fun and educational activities
for the kids. Franks waiting to welcome you!!
