WASHINGTON DC: Events DC Renews Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2017

Events DC announced today that it will continue its Community Grant Program through Fiscal Year 2017 (September 30, 2017). Events DC will award $50,000 semi-annually or $100,000 annually, with grant amounts ranging from a minimum single grant of $2,500 to a maximum single grant of $25,000. The grant program will provide financial support to non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting children through sports, performing arts or cultural arts in the District of Columbia.
“Events DC is proud to continue supporting local non-profit organizations that promote youth participation in the arts and athletics,” says Gregory A. O’Dell, president and chief executive officer of Events DC. “Events DC strives to be an active and engaged community partner, and the grants program is an integral part of our community outreach efforts, as well as central to our charge to support and encourage youth activities in the District.”
Events DC will award one-year grants to non-profit organizations focused on enriching the lives of DC children or youth through structured sports or arts-related programs. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:
  • The organization must be incorporated in the District of Columbia;
  • The organization must be a non-profit certified as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Tax Code and granted an exemption from District of Columbia income and franchise taxes;
  • The organization must utilize grant funding for programs or projects that support youth-focused sports, performing or cultural arts in the District of Columbia;
  • The organization must present proof of an annual financial audit conducted by a certified public accountant.
Applications are available on the Events DC website at http://eventsdc.com/AboutUs/Community.aspx and should be submitted via email to communitygrants@eventsdc.com. Applications for the initial Fiscal Year 2017 semi-annual grant cycle will be due no later than August 1, 2016. Applicants will be notified of their award status by October 15, 2016. Applications for the second Fiscal Year 2017 semi-annual grant cycle will be due no later than February 1, 2017. Applicants will be notified of their award status by April 15, 2017. Applications received after February 1, 2017 will not be considered during the Fiscal Year 2017 grants program cycle.
