Following on from the huge success of TICO on 14th Street NW, James Beard award winning Chef Schlow plans for his second DC restaurant at the Carlyle Suites Hotel in Dupont Circle....here is the Press Release;

Award-winning chef Michael Schlow, who owns and operates the popular TICO restaurant on DC’s 14th Street corridor, is set to open his second area restaurant this summer: The Riggsby, in the Carlyle Suites Hotel at 1731 New Hampshire Avenue, NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood.

Named for the street that intersects the restaurant, Riggs Place, the restaurant’s name also pays homage to the former Riggs Bank. The intimate yet refined space was designed by Brian Miller of Edit Lab at Streetsense, and will feature an open kitchen, wood tables, leather booths, brass finishes and whimsical décor, that includes a custom designed wallpaper incorporating original artwork from Schlow’s wife, mixed media artist, Adrienne Schlow.

The eclectic bar and lounge area will seat 40 guests, while the dining room seats 75 and also has a cozy private dining space for ten. The Riggsby will have a fun yet sophisticated ambience, serving American dishes with European influences.The inviting bar will have an emphasis on classic, hand crafted cocktails, bar snacks, and an extensive wine by the glass program.

Schlow, considered one of the leading culinary professionals in the United States, has tapped Chef Philippe Reininger, an acolyte of Jean-Georges Vongerichten who was most recently executive chef at J&G Steakhouse in Washington DC, to oversee the kitchen; and Daniel Lobsenz, who most recently oversaw front of house operations and managed the wine programs for both Roofer’s Union and BLT Steak, will be The Riggsby’s general manager.

The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Final food and beverage menus, along with operating hours, reservations, and other information will be made available closer to opening.
