CHEVY CHASE: Macon Bistro & Larder Sets The Mood with Five Lusty New Cocktails For Valentine's Day

Love is in the air as Valentine's Day is just around the corner and Beverage Director Andra “AJ” Johnson of Macon Bistro & Larder, located at 5520 Connecticut Ave., NW, is creating five sexy cocktails to set the stage. Couples can sip and savor these lusty libations, each priced at $12. AJ’s new drinks showcase natural aphrodisiacs found all over the globe that are sure to heat things up quickly.  These special cocktails will be available Valentine's Day weekend: Friday, February 12th through Sunday, February 14th
Johnson's featured cocktails and accompanying comments include The French Kiss aka "Un Baiser Amoureux" created with Baileys, Chambord, Espresso, and Creme de Cocoa garnished with a macerated cherry reduction.  “Chocolate was an easy choice. Cocoa has been used to pay for and seduce women for centuries. Michael Liebowitz of the New York State Psychiatric institute proved that the phenylethylamine (PEA) in chocolate releases the same hormone as does sexual intercourse.”
The Love Potion #10will incorporate vodka, Domaine Canton ginger liqueur, Creme de Violette, sparkling wine, individually bottled and poured tableside in a coupe glass, and garnished with an edible flower.  “Love potion #9 has long since been a pop culture reference. I changed the name to #10 in reference to Macon's opening day, May 10th.  There is a bunch of folklore and mystery behind love potions.  Can concocting a love potion make someone fall in love with you?  We'll be sure to find out this Valentine's Day.”

The Cobra Blood aka Le Sang du Serpent will combine Traverse City bourbon whiskey, Cappelletti red aperitivo, Angostura bitters, Emilio Lustau sherry, served on the rocks, and garnished with a long serpentine lemon twist.  "Cantonese tradition has maintained that killing a Cobra and drinking its blood is a recipe for supreme male potency. You can still pick up the tonic in Vietnam and China, either sipping it straight or mixing with alcohol," as stated by Natasha Burton in Cosmopolitan Magazine.  “No, I did not track down any snakes for this cocktail, but I did want to mimic what it looks like and possibly tastes like.”

The 100 First Dates will combine Domoiseau VSOP French rum, spiced date syrup, orange bitters, served in a tall martini glass, and garnished with orange.  “Dates are a rich source of iron that will help in improving and strengthening the ovulation process is women. It will also help in increasing the sexual desire in women and men.”

The Blueberry Malunggay Tea. “Blueberries are found to be a natural food that will help in driving the sexual pleasure in men to greater heights. They are rich in antioxidants that will help in relaxing the blood vessels and thereby improve the circulation of the blood to all parts of the body including the sexual organs. Men will enjoy stronger erections on consumption of blueberries regularly. It will also boost dopamine levels and will help in boosting the production of feel good hormones. Malunggay Tea is native of the Philippines which is rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and fiber that can help combat malnutrition and alleviate many types of illnesses. Malunggay is also known to benefit sexual health, particularly in men.”
