WASHINGTON DC: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society National Capital Area Chapter Annual Leukemia Ball, March 12
A resplendent venue |
This years co-chairs - Ed Offterdinger, Beth Gorman, Wayne Berson |
The aim of the Ball is to raise money for research to find cures for blood cancers. In the 29 years of existence, the Ball has raised more than $52 million for the National Capital Area chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS not only invests in research, but also provides outreach services to blood cancer patients in local communities. The National Capitol Chapter is one of the largest in the country and conducts community outreach throughout the year, and the Leukemia Ball is its signature event.
New this year, the Young Professionals package was designed based on feedback from young people - the fastest-growing segment of philanthropists - that they want to get involved, but aren't yet at the point in their careers where they can purchase $10,000 black tie gala tables. To be more inclusive and recognizing that a cure will require us all, LLS created this option to be a fun way that folks can contribute to the cause without breaking the bank.
Sinbad provided the entertainment in 2011 |
Young Professional tickets are $150 and include; entertainment, beer and wine, dessert, balcony seating. This years entertainment: Barenaked Ladies and comedian Kathleen Bradigan

Additional Ways to Get Involved
If $150 is still out of reach or if black-tie affairs aren't your thing, people can purchase a $100 raffle ticket to win one of two Mercedes-Benzes (is that the correct plural form?), or they can donate directly to LLS here.
