SHAW: Piassa Ethiocuisine and Cafe Opens at 9th and O Street NW
Update 7/21/2015 Photographs
New signage up for Piassa at 9th & O Streets NW
Original Post:
Yesterday afternoon, Piassa the new Ethiopian restaurant opened its doors for the first time. Located in the old Azi's location on the corner of 9th and O Streets, the new restaurant has undergone a transformation inside, and maintained the outdoor eating spot.
I had a brief conversation with the manager who told me that they would be open at 7am every morning for coffee, pastries and breakfast, and are planning to start a weekend brunch soon, understandable as they only just opened. Still quite a bit to find out about the restaurant's food etc. and how the relationship with Cher-Cher, another Ethiopian restaurant & bar, which is next door will play out - for now it looks like there will be an overlap, with Cher-Cher, which just doubled its capacity, in the early evening hours. Cher-Cher stays open much later than Piassa plans.
