PENN QTR: Daikaya Announces Next Sapporo Ramen 101 Date - Saturday, August 8th, 10am-11am
Continuing the already popular and often sold out 'Sapporo Ramen 101' lecture, demo, and tasting experiences hosted at Daikaya Ramen (First Floor Ramen Shop) partners Executive Chef Katsuya Fukushima and Daisuke Utagawa are teaming up yet again to educate and satiate scores of local Sapporo ramen lovers by announcing their next date to host the educational and engaging experience - Saturday, August 8th - with possible additional dates offered later in the month - for their interactive live culinary lecture, demo, and tasting sharing the intricate history and background of making authentic Japanese Sapporo ramen.
Priced at $28 per person (tax and gratuity not included), each 'Sapporo Ramen 101' experience begins at 10AM, and lasts an hour, ending at 11AM. Guests are greeted with a detailed document providing them with the step-by-step process of making authentic Japanese/Sapporo ramen, are invited to take a seat at the ramen counter, and are then provided with an up close and personal history of ramen including demos, and tastings.
Although the 'Sapporo Ramen 101' is not a traditional hands-on cooking class, the experience invites attendees to taste, touch, smell, listen, and learn as Fukushima and Utagawa demo each crucial step in the Japanese Sapporo ramen making process from creating the base for the broth, to the toppings, and even how to eat the signature noodle soup. In order to ensure a personable experience, a maximum of 10 tickets are available per class.
At the end of each class, guests will enjoy a bowl of their favorite Sapporo-style ramen along with a complimentary soft drink, and will also walk away with a mini goody bag filled with Japanese treats and Daikaya Ramen branded goodies.
Reservations are required to attend the class and can be secured by calling (202) 589-1600.
