L'ENFANT: JBG’s L’Enfant Plaza Adding New Corporate Tenants
L’Enfant Plaza’s lineup of office tenants continues to grow, with The JBG Companies attracting four new companies to the high-profile location. The new arrivals will take nearly 50,000 square feet in two existing office buildings, complementing other major office and retail changes that JBG has initiated at the property.
The four new firms are Veracity Engineering, LLC; Digitalibiz, Inc.; Rigil Corporation and Allegheny Science & Technology. Geoff Kreiss of Cushman & Wakefield represented Veracity. Kreiss and his colleague Caroline Guidera represented Digitalibiz. Transwestern’s Scott Fetterolf represented Rigil Corporation. Allegheny Science & Technology did not have representation.
L’Enfant Plaza is proving a popular destination among office workers, who have an array of new dining and shopping options to choose from. Following a $46 million renovation in 2014, JBG now has space for more than 50 restaurants and shops, making it the biggest retail destination in Southwest Washington with indoor and outdoor restaurant seating for 900 patrons.
JBG is revitalizing L’Enfant Plaza from multiple directions, investing $12 million last fall to renovate 955 L’Enfant Plaza, the 295,000 square-foot office building designed by architect I.M. Pei that opened in 1967. JBG’s year-long renovation included a new 50-person conference center, a two-story, floor-to-ceiling glass entrance, concierge services, upgraded elevator cabs, a grand stairwell with direct indoor access to the on-site shops and restaurants. Contemporary finishes in the lobby include sleek marble floors, a stone focal wall, metal architectural accents and a commissioned painting by renowned artist John Hartman, depicting a striking aerial view of Washington, D.C.
Linked to the District’s busy L’Enfant Metro rail station and near the National Mall and Capitol Hill, L’Enfant Plaza is a natural connection between the National Mall and the emerging Southwest Waterfront, where construction is underway a few blocks south.
