WASHINGTON DC: iThai to Donate 50 Percent of Select Menu Item Sales to Urban Light June 1- June 8

On Wednesday night (June 8), iThai Restaurant and Sushi Bar hosted a benefit night for Urban Light – a locally based non-profit organization that works to rebuild, restore and empower the lives of boys in Thailand who are victims of sex trafficking and exploitation. Urban Light board members – including founder Alezandra Russell – supporters, iThai principals and iThai regulars gathered together for an intimate reception to toast to iThai’s new affiliation with Urban Light.
For the first week of June, iThai’s Georgetown and Tyson’s Corner locations donated proceeds from its two signature dishes – pineapple fried rice and mango sticky rice- to Urban Light. By June 8, iThai had raised $675 for the organization. At the reception, iThai topped these funds with another $325 making the final donation to Urban Light $1,000. iThai’s founders pledge to provide ongoing support to Urban Light and celebrate its mission to better their home country of Thailand.

Eat for a cause! iThai (Georgetown and Tyson’s Corner locations) has announced that this June it will launch support efforts for Urban Light- a non-profit organization founded by a Washingtonian to rebuild, restore and empower the lives of young boys in Thailand who are victims of sex trafficking and exploitation. During the first week of June, Wed. June 1 – Wed. June 8, iThai (both locations) will hold percentage nights to raise funds for Urban Light. Select dishes, including pineapple fried rice and mango sticky rice (pictured above), will be indicated on the menu as benefit items. Urban Light will receive 50 percent from each dish ordered.
To toast to a week of fundraising efforts, iThai - Georgetown will host an intimate happy hour with Urban Light board members and volunteers and regular customers. During the happy hour, iThai will present the donation to Urban Light principals and celebrate Urban Light’s mission to better Thailand.
