GEORGETOWN: February Lineup and Valentines at Via Umbria
In February, Via Umbria in Georgetown will host a full lineup of Italian dinner parties, Valentine’s Day events and interactive cooking and cocktail classes.
Tabarrini Italian Dinner Party – February 3 & 4, 7:00 p.m.
Join special guest Daniele Sassi from Italy’s Tabarrini Vineyard for a four-course dinner created to complement the Umbrian wines. The vineyard, located near the Menard’s home in Umbria, helped to bring back a DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) wine from extinction. The dinner will take place in Via Umbria’s Laboratorio demonstration kitchen where guests will sit around a communal table and have the opportunity to interact with Sassi and the chef throughout the night. The menu will feature items like Roveja Bean Passata on Bread, Lasagna Pasta Sheets with White Porchetta Ragu, Slow Braised Beef in Sagrantino Wine, and Crescionda.

Valentine’s Day Events
In addition to the above, Via Umbria will host various events for Valentine’s Day, starting with a wine tasting on February 8. Co-owner and founder Suzy Menard will lead guests through 8 different wines that will be paired with small nibbles and food pairing ideas. The tasting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and cost $25 per guest. Next, Via Umbria will host a Valentine’s Day dinner on February 11 held in the restaurant’s Laboratorio demonstration kitchen. The dinner will feature four courses, including gnocchi with Goose Ragu and Umbrian roasted pork loin, and guests will be seated at a communal dining table. On the following evening (Feb. 12), guests are invited to join co-owner and founder, Bill Menard for a couples cooking class. This special class will teach guests to make Italian chocolate kisses, or Baci, which are made with chocolate and hazelnut, and wrapped in love notes. The candy originated when a young Italian chocolate maker wanted to make a gift for his beloved, and the name appropriately translates to “kiss.” The class begins at 5:00 p.m. and is priced at $25 per person. Finally, on Valentine’s Day, join special guest Matt Demma from True Syrups for a cocktail-making class inspired by classic films like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Casa Blanca. The class is $35 per guest and begins at 7:30 p.m.
Throughout the month, Via Umbria will be hosting a selection of other unique events, including their weekly Sunday bottomless brunch, monthly cheese of the month club, additional Italian dinner parties, and more.
