SHAW: What’s New in the New Year at TAKODA Restaurant & Beer Garden
TAKODA, the
contemporary American restaurant and rooftop beer garden located at 715
Florida Avenue, NW, is kicking off 2017 with the addition of
healthy menu items to their winter menu ideal for those who made
resolutions to stay fit in the New Year. The restaurant
has also updated its happy hour specials and added a $28 three-course, prix
fixe offering to entice its guests.
The menu at TAKODA offers
guests creative takes on American classics with a large emphasis on
local and seasonal sourcing. Two new salads have been added to Chef
Damian Brown's winter menu. They include the Winter Bounty Salad, frisée, kale, mint, radishes, toasted pumpkin seeds, orange segments and a pomegranate molasses vinaigrette and the Grain Salad, quinoa, radish, carrot, tomato, chai-pickled grapes, mushroom jerky and an onion vinaigrette. New additions to the starters section of the menu include Cast Iron Shrimp with saffron white wine tomato stew and olive oil croutons; Roasted Beet Hummus with spicy kale pesto and chickpeas, served with toast; Chicken Sliders with cabbage, served on mini buns; Rosemary Biscuits with honey and black pepper butter, as well as a Cheese Board, served with toast and chutney.
Winter entrée highlights include the Pan Seared Trout with sautéed Swiss chard, pickled Swiss chard stems and a brown butter sunchoke purée; Grilled Pork Loin with roasted Brussels sprouts, Tasso ham, cauliflower purée and smoked maple onion marmalade; Pan Seared Salmon Filet with hickory smoked bacon potato chowder, as well as the Roasted Chicken Fettuccini with 24-hour roasted tomatoes, broccoli, peppers and parmesan coulis. A prix fixe, three-course menu is another new addition at TAKODA this winter. Available Sunday through Thursday,
exclusively during dinner service, guests can select one salad, one
entrée and one dessert for a special price of $28 per person.
Additionally, guests are invited to enjoy new happy hour offerings at TAKODA Monday through Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Highlights include a
selection of starters (buttermilk biscuits, rosemary parmesan tots, and
grilled veggie flatbread) and drink specials (PBR, Bud Light, sparkling
wine, house mules, pinot noir, and sauvignon blanc) priced from $4 to
$8 each. TAKODA also features half price wines by the bottle &
starters on Mondays during happy hour; half price wings &
select whiskeys on Wednesdays during happy hour; and half price mimosas
or $20 for bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays during brunch
from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
