SHAW: TAKODA Set To Debut Weekend Brunch Service - May 7th

Partners Ryan Seelbach and Eric Lund have announced that TAKODA, the 132-seat contemporary American restaurant and beer garden located in the Shaw neighborhood  715 Florida Avenue, NW, will launch Saturday and Sunday brunch service on May 7th.  Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with the last seating at 3 p.m.) in the 61-seat dining room as well as the 71-seat rooftop beer garden.  Guests can anticipate classic American brunch staples along with a selection of salads and small plates.  

Standouts on Chef Damian Brown’s new brunch menu include Red Velvet Pancakes with whipped cream cheese and black pepper maple syrup; Apple Pie French Toast, thick-cut and served with caramelized apples and caramel; Brisket Hash, brisket, potatoes, peppers, and onions, topped with a sunny side up egg and red pepper aioli; Breakfast Salmon Cakes,pan-seared and served with a hash brown waffle, sunny side up egg and hollandaise; Oatmeal with seasonal fruit and nut toppings; Chicken & Sweet Potato Waffle, Southern fried chicken with pecans and black pepper maple syrup; Shrimp & Grits, Tasso ham pepper sauce and a sunny side up egg; Texas Toast Sandwich, fried egg, cheddar, chicken sausage, hash brown waffle, served with fresh fruit, as well as the Veggie Burger,quinoa, lentil, chickpea and barley burger, served with pimento cheese and whole grain mustard.  Brunch menu items range in price from $13 to $15.

A selection of salads and small plates will also be available during brunch.  Highlights include the Cranberry Kale Salad with radish, apple, parmesan, pecans and a cranberry vinaigrette; Grilled Romaine Caesar with pretzel croutons and lemon parmesan Caesar; Wish It Were Summer Salad with frisee, romaine, grilled corn, grilled onion, radish and pretzel croutons, served with a buttermilk corn dressing; Skillet Mac & Cheese, served with a selection of seasonal ingredients; Rosemary Parmesan Tots; Vegetable Ceviche with sweet potato ginger puree and house-made chips, as well as an assortment of Wings: PB&J BBQ, Old Bay and Parmesan Garlic.  Small plates range in price from $5 to $9, and salads from $5 to $8.

For the perfect beverage pairing at TAKODA, restaurant-goers can enjoy the TAKODA Mimosa, sparkling wine and orange juice, for a discounted $5 during brunch service.  Additionally, any of the restaurants 24+ American draft beers can be mixed with one-ounce of house-made lemonade to make the perfect summer shandy.  The price for the shandy is the same as the draft beer price, which range from $5 to $10 each.  Also available is the restaurant’s extensive collection of 50+ American whiskies including old favorites such as Basil Hayden Bourbon, Widow Jane Bourbon and Rye and Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon, and new styles including Hillrock Estate Solera-Aged Bourbon, Filibuster The Boondoggler and High West Campfire.  TAKODA also features 10 handcrafted cocktails featuring house-made syrups and fresh juices and six wines, available by the glass and bottle, showcasing wines from California and Oregon.
