GEORGETOWN: Via Umbria Food Market Celebrates Two Years - Sept 10th

Via Umbria, is an Italian food market, café and wine shop located in Georgetown, and they are about to celebrate their two-year anniversary on Saturday, September 10th with a festive open house and “Sip & Shop” event complete with complimentary tastings, specialty cocktails, wines and giveaways that guests can enjoy throughout the day. The event runs from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Each guest will receive 10 tickets, for which they can redeem tastes of specialty cocktails, wines and snacks, including, but not limited to:
  • Mini Porchetta Sliders on Mini Brioche Buns, Salsa Verde, Caramelized Onions
  • Sottocenere al tartufo cow’s milk cheese from Veneto, Italy
  • Mondeghilli Meatballs with Marinara Sauce
  • Assorted Crostini including: English Pea Puree Crostini, Honey Whipped Ricotta, Nectarine, Basil & Prosciutto di Parma
  • Popcorn cones
  • Charcuterie
  • Assorted desserts such as Mini Torta Della Nonna, Baci di Dama, and mini chocolate chip cookies with Maldon sea salt
Guests are able to purchase additional tickets for $1 each, and will also be eligible to win raffle prizes throughout the day including tickets to Via Umbria’s special dinners, a cheese of the month club membership, gift baskets, ceramics, olive oils and more.

Via Umbria’s new executive chef, Johanna Hellrigl, will be on site serving up samples of some of her new dishes in addition to classic Italian favorites. From making pastries in the kitchen of her parents' restaurant to starting her own business and food blog, food has always played a prominent role in Johanna's life. Although her professional career began in global development, Johanna shifted gears to follow in the footsteps of her father, a renowned chef, by pursuing a career in culinary arts. In her newest role at Via Umbria, Johnna focuses on crafting authentic Italian cuisine utilizing local and seasonal produce. 

Via Umbria co-founders Bill and Suzy Menard, as well as their Italian representative Marco Palermi, will welcome guests and answer questions about the products, samples and trips to their Umbrian farmhouse, available for rental or guided trip. 

A percentage of all of the anniversary weekend sales will go to the Italian American Relief Fund for victims of the recent earthquake.

Via Umbria is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
