THE WHARF: Kith and Kin from Chef Kwame Onwuachi Opens Today - Thursday, October 19th - for Dinner Service at the InterContinental Washington D.C
Chef Kwame Onwuachi and the InterContinental Washington D.C. - The Wharf hotel are thrilled to announce the official opening of Kith and Kin, a new 96-seat waterfront Afro-Caribbean restaurant. The highly anticipated restaurant from Top Chef alum and Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park graduate Onwuachi opens at The Wharf today, Thursday, October 19th beginning with dinner service. On Sunday, October 22nd, Kith and Kin will begin offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, with plans to launch both happy hour and brunch in the future. The restaurant is inspired by Onwuachi’s diverse heritage; paying tribute to his favorite childhood family meals and recipes, and extensive travels. The menu has a focus on Caribbean flavors, Creole cuisine, and African accents merged with creative and modern touches.
The upscale-casual restaurant is situated in the elegant and modern InterContinental Washington D.C. - The Wharf. The 3,500 square foot restaurant features a spacious, light-soaked dining room with warm gold, cream, and black tones, floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to stunning waterfront views, a large private dining room, a wine wall featuring over 300 bottles of wine, and a large custom mural from local artist Meg Biram of which Chef Onwuachi had commissioned for the main dining room featuring favorite quotes from many of the chefs he has had the honor of working with/for, as well as chefs and industry professionals he admires such as Thomas Keller, and Daniel Humm, and also includes a quote from his mother Jewel Robinson who helped lay the foundation for Onwuachi's passion for seeking a career in the culinary arts.

“The process of bringing Kith and Kin to life at the InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf hotel, has been a very exciting, rewarding, and personal endeavor for me,” said Executive Chef Kwame Onwuachi. “I’m thrilled to share this chapter of my story in Washington D.C. with locals and visitors alike, especially at The Wharf with it’s rich history and unparalleled waterfront views, offering a fresh and creative twist on Afro-Caribbean cuisine. This food is a celebration of my heritage and I strongly believe that the representation of these cuisines – many of which have direct connections to each other – has long been missing from our dining scene in the District. I’m really looking forward to sharing these beautiful cuisines with our guests, educating them, enlightening their palates, and of course creating special and memorable dining experiences for them.”
Kith and Kin is located at the InterContinental Washington D.C. - The Wharf at 801 Wharf Street SW, Washington D.C.
