DOWNTOWN: Toast the Return of Fall with A Champagne Dinner at The Hay-Adams

The award-winning Hay-Adams, located steps away from the White House at 800 16th Street, NW, 20006, is pleased to debut a new prix fixe, three-course menu   available exclusively in the Lafayette Room through October 15th.  Priced at $150 for two people (tax and gratuity not included), the menu features contemporary American cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Nicholas Legret complemented by a half bottle of Taittinger Brut Champagne. With windows looking out over Lafayette Park, this beautiful oasis is an ideal place to toast the fall season accompanied by music courtesy of Tom Vogt, who the great Lena Horne called her “favorite pianist in Washington.”

This special offering is available Monday through Saturday, from 5:30 PM to 10 PM
through October 15th.

The Hay-Adams’ new Executive Chef Nicolas Legret is creating a seasonal menu with appetizers such as Blue Hubbard Squash Veloute with Cotija cheese, crema and cilantro; Idaho Potato Risotto with white truffle oil, chive and San Joaquin cheese; Foie Gras Torchon with rhubarb vanilla jam, served with warm brioche, and the Provençal Vegetable Salad with fennel, peppers, artisan greens and basil pesto.  Entrée options are just as enticing and include Pistachio Crusted Diver Scallops with roasted romanesco, raisins and a saffron curry sauce; Arctic Char with corn puree, rainbow Swiss chard and a Sriracha vinaigrette; Black Angus Beef Tenderloin Rossini with rösti potato, madeira sauce, foie gras and glazed turnips, and the Seafood Lasagnacce with shrimp scallop, clams, mini lasagna, piperade and lobster tarragon sauce.  For a sweet finish, diners can indulge in sweets created by Pastry Chef Josh Short, such as the Late Summer Cooler Parfait with tayberry sorbet, mascarpone ice cream and dried papaya; Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée with dark chocolate and Chantilly cream or Milk Chocolate Baked Alaska with pop rocks, chocolate sable, mango and blackberry. 

Those looking to host guests in the Lafayette's private dining room can enjoy the same three-course dinner menu while also being treated to 30 minutes of complimentary passed hors d'oeuvres during the months of September and October.  With its ornamental fireplace and views of Lafayette Park, The Lafayette’s Private Dining Room provides a refined atmosphere perfect for an intimate meeting or social gathering.  Parties of 10 to 20 guests, who choose to dine in the private dining room, will begin their meal with memorable bite-sized hot and cold appetizers such as Fingerling Potato with crème fraîche, chive and American caviar; Tuna Tartar with sesame dressing; Smoked Salmon Bellini; Green Apple Brie with candied walnut tart; Mini Croque Monsieur; Lobster Bisque with tarragon espuma; Mini Crab Cakes with spicy remoulade sauce, and Chicken Satay with peanut sauce.  This luxe experience is priced at $85 per person (tax and gratuity not included).  Parties who wish take advantage of this special offering will also receive complimentary room rental for the evening, subject to the room’s availability.
