SHAW: Espita Mezcaleria to Add New Boozy & Prix Fixe Options to Its Popular Weekend Brunch Menu

Master Mezcalier Josh Phillips is pleased to add new Boozy and “Precio Fijo”, or prix fixe, options to the popular weekend brunch service at Espita Mezcaleria, the Southern Mexican-inspired restaurant located in the Shaw neighborhood 1250 9th Street, NW.  “Precio Fijo” is priced at $29 per person (tax and gratuity not included), and includes guacamole and two salsas for the table followed by a choice of first course, second course, and sides for sharing.  This special brunch offer must be ordered for the entire table.  Brunch can also be ordered a la carte for a light bite, with prices ranging from $3 to $15 per dish.  Additionally, an optional unlimited brunch cocktail selection will also be available for an additional $16 per person.  These new Boozy and “Precio Fijo” brunch options will kickoff Saturday, September 10th.  Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Executive Chef Alexis Samayoa's new “Precio Fijo”, or prix fixe, brunch menu begins with Guacamole Clásico, avocado, jalapeño, onion and cilantro; Verde Asado Salsa, roasted tomatillo, onion, garlic and Serrano, as well as Borracha Salsa, mezcal, orange and chipotle moritas, served with fresh heirloom corn tortilla chips for the table.  Next, guests can select one first course and second course from the pre-selected offerings. Standouts from the first course section of the menu include Green Kale Salad with candied walnuts, queso fresco, chile pasilla and agave vinaigrette; Tinga Tlacoyo, masa turnover filled with chicken tinga, topped with salsa verde and onions, or the Yogurt Parfait with pepitas, fruit, coconut and piloncillo granola.

Second course options are just as enticing and include Maitake Tacos, three tacos with salsa borracha and pickled white onions; Chilango, potato hash, slaw poached eggs, green chorizo and salsa verde; Biscuits & Eggs, jalapeño Chihuahua biscuits, Serrano ham, slow poached eggs and arbol hollandaise, or the Machaca Tacos, three tacos with shredded adobo, brisket, scrambled eggs and salsa cascabel.  Sides for the table include Frijoles Negros, brothy black beans cooked with a sofrito of poblano, onion and garlic, and Papas, roasted breakfast potatoes.

For the perfect beverage pairing at Espita Mezcaleria, brunch-goers can enjoy an expansive, rotating selection of mezcals featuring many varietals and styles.  Over 100 are available in one or two-ounce pours, a six-ounce carafe to share, as a choice of flights, or highlighted in the nine cocktails on the list.  An optional unlimited brunch cocktail selection is also available for an additional $16.  Unlimited morning cocktails such as Misa del Gallo, tequila, grapefruit, honey and sparkling rose; Guadalupe, house mezcal bloody Maria; Jamaica Aqua Fresca, hisibcus, lime and raw agave with the choice of vodka or gin; Mimosa; Fresh Watermelon Juice with the choice of vodka or gin, as well as Miller High Life.  Non-alcoholic libations are priced at $5 each, and alcoholic concoctions are priced from $7-$13 each when ordered a la carte.
