ADAMS MORGAN: Adams Morgan PorchFest Returns with 30+ Bands & Nonstop Music - October 7

Adams Morgan PorchFest returns October 7 with more than 30 local bands in one of DC’s most creative musical festivals. Adams Morgan residents and businesses turn more than a dozen porches, patios and stoops into stages for the day, drawing music-lovers from around the region into the leafy streets and independent businesses of the neighborhood.

The all-female Afro-Brazilian percussion band Batalá will kick off the event at 1:30 pm at BB&T Bank Plaza (18th Street and Columbia Road NW). For the first time this year, the performances will overlap, enabling a nonstop musical stroll around the neighborhood. Each location will host three 45-minute sets between 2 pm and 6 pm. The range of bands touches nearly every musical genre, including classic rock, rap, reggae, folk, classical, a cappella, and more. Highlights include two new musical collaborations from Tom Toles, Ghosts You Know (rockabilly) and Tom’s Joint (jazz). The Greentop Ramblers performs lilting traditional Irish music, and Jerry Tolk and The Old Soul String Band presents Americana string-based harmonies (gospel/blues/folk). Meander the delightful, tree-lined streets of Adams Morgan, enjoy local music, then stop into a local business for shopping and dining.

“This is a true community effort that involves the participation of residents, business owners, local musicians and neighbors,” said Kristen Barden, Executive Director of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District, which organizes the event. “We are grateful to every one of these immensely talented musicians and their porch hosts, without whom this event would not be possible.”

Adams Morgan PorchFest is sponsored by Cultural Tourism DC, Lyft, and Lars Etzkorn Law. Lyft is offering a 20% discount code for rideshare to the event (for the first 500 people; use PORCHFEST17).
