Freshen your summer wardrobe with two new pop-up shops coming to Georgetown. EastBanc Inc., Jamestown LP, and Acadia Realty Trust announced today that clothing retailers, Chubbies and Of Mercer, are opening seasonal stores on M Street. 

 Chubbies, a lifestyle and “weekend-centric” e-commerce brand, will open a brick-and-mortar location at 3025 M Street NW starting today, Friday, April 28 through the end of July. Just down the street at 3035 M Street NW,  Of Mercer, the New York City-based womenswear brand, will open May 1-31. 

Chubbies, which debuted in Georgetown at the Cady’s Alley Holiday Bazaar, is bringing its colorful short shorts, swim trunks, shirts and never-before-seen accessories to their new pop-up shop. The store will feature pop-a-shot & buck hunter arcade games, a tiki bar and a lounge area. All store patrons will receive a free koozie when entering the store, and on Fridays, customers can enjoy a 5 p.m. happy hour with free beer and hot dogs.

“DC was a super natural destination for our Summer 2017 Pop-up,” says Chubbies’ Head of Retail Jon-Mark Craddock. “We have a ton of customers in the area, and there’s already such a good weekend vibe here. We’re pumped to bring the Chubbies brand to life in Georgetown for the next few months.”

Chubbies will host a Grand Opening Celebration at its new location tonight, April 28, from 5-10 p.m. featuring complimentary beer and beverages. The celebration will include a Jimmy Buffet look-a-like contest where anyone wearing shorts and a Hawaiian shirt can have a Polaroid taken of them for Chubbies’ “Wall of Fame,” and the winner will receive a free pair of shorts.

A few doors down, Of Mercer is bringing its stylish, office-appropriate womenswear to its first DC shop for the month of May. To celebrate its opening, Of Mercer’s new location will host a grand opening celebration Thursday, May 4 from 6-8 p.m. featuring music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Throughout the month, the store will host weekly events including “Sip and Shops” and a “Grad Weekend” with discounts for DC’s new college graduates.
