SHAW: TAKODA Restaurant & Beer Garden Celebrates One Year of Service & National Beer Day with Draft Specials & New Specialty Cocktails - April 7 thru 9
This April, TAKODA, the contemporary American restaurant and rooftop
beer garden located at 715 Florida Avenue, NW, will be
celebrating one year of service and National Beer Day. Guests are
encouraged to stop by the restaurant for a congratulatory toast as
TAKODA will be tapping a limited supply of specialty kegs, from April 7-9,
which will be available in addition to the restaurant’s rotating
collection of 20+ other local and regional craft beers on tap. Priced
from $9 to $14 per 10-12oz drafts, specialty kegs include the Allagash Brewing Company’s St. Klippenstein, a Belgian strong dark ale; Southern Tier Brewing Company’s Imperial Cherry Gose, an imperial sour ale brewed with tart cherry juice, and the Flying Dog Brewery’s Brewhouse Rarities Bee Beer, a saison/farmhouse ale style beer made with bee pollen and a touch of honey.
Additionally, the beverage team at TAKODA is adding three new cocktails for spring, which can be enjoyed on the restaurant’s 71-seat roof deck that boasts a beautiful 270ยบ view of Shaw, U Street, and LeDroit Park. Its large island bar is accented with hanging plants, chandeliers, and string lights.
Priced at $12 each, new libations include the Cucumber Diablo with El Jimador tequila, cucumber purรฉe and jalapeรฑos (winner of the March Madness cocktail challenge); Summer is Coming with Redemption bourbon, mango purรฉe, lemon and a splash of soda, and the Negroni Royale with El Jimador, Campari, sweet vermouth, grapefruit juice and sparkling wine.
Guests can also enjoy popular mainstays such as the Rosemary Greyhound with Ketel One vodka, grapefruit juice and rosemary simple syrup; TAKODA Old Fashion with High West bourbon, beer syrup, orange bitters and maraschino cherry,
and the Cold Toddy with Redemption white rye whiskey, iced tea, honey syrup and lemon. Tables on the roof deck are available on a first come, first serve basis during dinner service; however advanced reservations are available during weekend brunch service. Reservations for the first floor restaurant are available during all meal periods.
