RAMW: Summer Restaurant Week Suggestion #2: 701 Restaurant - August 14-27


The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington will host Summer Restaurant Week, August 14-20, inviting participating restaurants to offer three-course lunches for $22 and three-course dinners for $35, excluding tax and gratuity at each location. This bi-annual event invites diners to experience Washington’s top restaurants at an affordable price point.

701 Restaurant, newly appointed Executive Chef Bryan Moscatello will offer a special three-course menu during lunch and dinner service. The lunch menu offers a selection of appetizing dishes such as Compressed Watermelon with roasted beets, pickled ramps and pink peppercorn vinaigrette; Grilled Stone Fruit with arugula, house ricotta and fennel honey, and Albacore Tuna Tartare with preserved tomato paste and clam sabayon, served with black brioche. For entrées, guests can choose from Lamb Madame with brioche, Ossau Iraty Mornay, fried egg and mixed greens; Blue Crab Roll with celery, onion, tarragon, uni and arugula; Sunchoke Tortellini with garlic confit, lemon sabayon, charred spinach and espelette jus, and Roast Game Hen with cauliflower, mushroom, tarragon and truffle. Dessert options are just as enticing and include Orr Orchards Cherries with cream cheese, chiffon cake, laurel and oxalis; Butter Pudding with peach, black walnut, thyme and honey, and the Goat Cheese Bavarian with beet, fennel pollen, balsamic and sable.

For dinner, guests will begin their meal with a choice of Chilled Sweet Corn Soup with lobster, watercress and pickled kernels; Foie Gras Parfait with pickled peaches, cocoa nib streusel, Muscat and hyssop, and Blood Orange Glazed Spanish Octopus with fresh anise, citrus, caper vinaigrette and salsify purée, followed by entrées including Saint Alban Ravioli with preserved tomato, toasted brioche sauce, sorrel and cheese crisps; Pan Seared Branzino with prosciutto, razor clam, celeries and lemon; Green Circle Chicken with garlic pudding, chicken liver ravioli, English peas and maitake mushrooms, as well as Pork Loin with Tasso ham glaze, cured jowl, apricot, mostarda, and allium. Dinner will offer the same dessert items that are available during lunch service.

701 Restaurant’s Restaurant Week menu will be available from August 14-27. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner is served Monday and Tuesday, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Friday, from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
