WASHINGTON DC: The JBG Companies Wins Highest Honor at TOBY Awards
Scored highest of entrants for United States Department of Transportation Headquarters management
The JBG Companies commercial management team received top honors at The Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA)’s 33rd Annual TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) Awards. For their management of the United States Department of Transportation Headquarters, JBG won for the category of over 1,000,000 square feet and received the Grand Award for the highest score of all TOBY entrants in the competition.
As the only cabinet-level agency headquarters located in a privately-owned leased building, the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) Class A office building is truly a unique facility. JBG was awarded the project in 2001 through a solicitation process run by the General Services Administration.
“Since completing the DOT Headquarters in 2006, our commercial management team has consistently set and exceeded the industry standard in managing this property and our relationship with the DOT,” said JBG’s Britt Snider, EVP Commercial Asset Management. “I am thrilled that they have earned this recognition for all of their hard work,”TOBY is considered one of the real estate industry’s most prestigious award programs. It recognizes excellence in building management, operational efficiency and community impact. Established by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International in 1984, the annual TOBY awards process includes a rigorous review - via an on-site inspection tour of all facets of the building’s operation and management.
