RAMW: Summer Restaurant Week Suggestion #3: nopa Kitchen & Bar - August 14-27


The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington will host Summer Restaurant Week, August 14-20, inviting participating restaurants to offer three-course lunches for $22 and three-course dinners for $35, excluding tax and gratuity at each location. This bi-annual event invites diners to experience Washington’s top restaurants at an affordable price point.


nopa Kitchen + Bar, will be participating with a prix fixe menu including an appetizer, entrée and dessert available during both lunch and dinner service.  The lunch menu offers a selection of appetizing dishes prepared by Executive Chef Matt Kuhn such as Watermelon & Tomato Gazpacho with basil yogurt, pickled watermelon rind and agrumato; Smoked Salmon Rillette with charcuterie salad, lavender and butter flake roll; Farro & Black Quinoa Risotto with smoked tomato pesto, summer vegetables, ricotta salata and sunflower shoots; Herb Roasted Chicken Breast with summer bean cassoulet, purple basil, jalapeño-peach butter and lemon thyme jus, and the Pan Roasted Steelhead Salmon with ball zucchini, tomato salsa cruda, radish salad and nasturtium emulsion.  For dessert, guests can indulge in a selection of sweet treats such as Chocolate Chip Brownie with peanut butter mousse, marshmallow fluff and banana ice cream; Watermelon Rum Sorbet with frozen yogurt, seasonal melons, lavender meringues and mint, or Honey Roasted Peaches & Plums with caramelized granola and chamomile Chardonnay ice cream.  Lunch is priced at $22 and will not be offered on Sunday, August 20, 2017.

During dinner service, guests can select one appetizer or salad paired with any entrée off the regular dinner menu.  Standouts not to be missed include Le Bocage Mushroom & Pea Shoot with guanciale, truffled pecorino, spring peas and basil vinaigrette; English Pea & Ricotta Gnudi with pea shoots, Peekytoe crab, spring garlic and preserved lemon; Grilled Spanish Octopus with olive oil crouton, Calabrese salami, green chickpeas, tzatziki and watercress; Za’atar Crusted Mahi with cauliflower "cous-cous", crimson lentils, golden raisins, pine nuts and olive tapenade, and Braised Beef Short Rib with heirloom beans, purple barley, baby kale, and  golden beet and potato air.  Dessert options will be the same as lunch.  The dinner menu is priced at $35 per person (tax and gratuity not included). 

 nopa Kitchen + Bar’s Restaurant Week menu will be available from August 14-27.  nopa is open Monday through Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
