SHAW: Beat the Heat with Espita Mezcaleria’s New Whimsical Summer Cocktails
Espita Mezcaleria, the Southern Mexican-inspired restaurant located in the Shaw neighborhood, is pleased to announce the introduction of eight new summer cocktails. Created by Beverage Director/Partner Megan Barnes and the Espita beverage team, each of these new libations incorporates fresh seasonal ingredients, small batch spirits, and creative flavor combinations.
“The inspiration behind our summer cocktail menu was the Spanish colonization of Mexico,” says Barnes. “This season we’re introducing spirits such as rum and sherry to our mezcal cocktails, which allow us to have a lot of fun. Guests can anticipate tiki-style cocktails and garnishes, interesting riffs on classics as well as cocktails made using Mexico’s other spirit, sotol.”
New libations include Strawberry Sotol,(above) served tall with strawberry, tarragon and sotol; Ginger & Cucumber with mezcal and cucumber slices;
Cholo Y Chundo (above) with mezcal, aged rum, pistachio cafe, pineapple, citrus, and served on the rocks; No Huevos Wey with espadin, rhum agricole, mango beer and "egg;"
Santiago Sling (above) with Cotton & Reed white rum, El Buho espadin, passion fruit, pineapple and lime; Left My Wallet In El Segundo (Top) with agave tequilana, aquavit, sherry, coriander and kaffir lime;
This Is Not A Dirty Martini (above) with espadin mezcal, sotol, génépy and verjus, and Conquistador with El Buho mezcal, manzanilla sherry, salted honey and Italian vermouth. Cocktails are priced from $12 to $15 and are available through Labor Day.
