LOGAN CIRCLE: No Kings Collective Launches "The Lot at the Liz" with Whitman-Walker Health + Fivesquares Development

No Kings Collective, the Washington, D.C.-based artist collective and creative agency, celebrates their eighth anniversary with a summer-long temporary installation along the heart of the 14th Street corridor, called The Lot at The Liz, inspired by the history of the Whitman-Walker Health’s work in the community. No Kings Collective has designed a temporary urban installation in the space that was once home to the health center, featuring a 30,000 square foot seamless mural spanning an entire city block with four intertwined themes. The aim of the installation is to share the stories of the health center while creating a temporary outdoor public space that reflects the values of openness, inclusion and diversity that are the epitome of Whitman-Walker. Fivesquares Development served as the catalyst for this project, showcasing support for the community vision and celebrating the city before embarking on a new chapter for the space.
To celebrate D.C. and their eighth anniversary, No Kings Collective will host a free Block Party on Saturday, July 15th from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Block Party will debut the four murals and serve as the kick-off for an entire summer of inclusive space happenings, an art experiment in temporary urbanism. The Lot at The Liz is a partnership between Whitman-Walker, Fivesquares Development and No Kings Collective, and will feature a multitude of events including an Independence Day pig roast with D.C.’s first rum distillery, Cotton & Reed, a jazz festival, fundraisers and events for local D.C. non-profit groups, as well as other yet to be announced programming.
