CLARENDON: BABA Bar Debuts A Gluten-Free Menu to Raise Awareness of Celiac Disease

BABA, the sister restaurant to Ambar Clarendon, located at 2901 Wilson Blvd, is pleased to showcase a special gluten-free brunch and dinner menu in honor of Celiac Awareness Month, an annual event held throughout the Unites States and supported by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (and other relevant organizations). BABA, which translates to ‘grandmother,’ evokes the warm, welcoming comfort of grandma’s house married with a chic, modern, and comfortable ambiance, and just like grandma, strives to make sure every guest leave full and satisfied. This restaurant specializes in small plates ideal for sharing and the new gluten-free menu will be available throughout the month of June and beyond, for the foreseeable future. The brunch menu will be available daily, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the dinner menu will be available daily, from 4 p.m. to midnight.
Gluten-free guests can look forward to seasonal brunch menu items including breakfast bowls, soup of the day, salad, sandwiches, and eggs. One can enjoy tempting gluten-free bowls like Tiramisu Oatmeal with oatmeal, espresso mascarpone, organic almond butter, dark chocolate granola and prunes with maple syrup; BABA's Perfect Bowl with oatmeal, caramelized banana, almonds, pineapple, and peanut butter and raspberry syrup; Grannie's Granola with lightly toasted mixed oats, walnuts, Greek yogurt, seasonal fruit and honey, and the Grain Bowl with French green lentils, brown rice bowl, quinoa, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, bacon, kimchi yogurt and sunflower seeds. Brunch salads, sandwiches, and eggs include: Beets Salad with creamy goat cheese, organic quinoa, walnuts and Sriracha tarragon mayo; Arugula Avocado Salad with walnuts, grapes and cranberry vinaigrette; BABA's House Salad with kale, chickpeas, edamame, fava beans, pumpkin puree, and ginger syrup and coconut cauliflower puree; Balkan Eggs, and a Bacon, Egg & Cheese. Brunch menu items range in price from $6 to $9.
For dinner, guests can enjoy an extensive gluten-free menu featuring a Beet Salad with creamy goat cheese, organic quinoa and walnuts; Roasted Cauliflower with white bean and parsnip purée and pomegranate dressing; Wild Forest Mushrooms with crimini, oyster, shiitake, button mushroom, onion, thyme and kajmak, and BABA's Hand-Cut Potatoes with homemade seasoning and kimchi yogurt dip. Vegetable dishes range in price from $6 to $8.
One can also savor seafood dishes such as Seafood Olivier with scallops, calamari, shrimp, sweetcorn, asparagus, peas and Sriracha tarragon mayo; Salmon Tartare with beet marinated, capers, quinoa, pine nuts and fresh vegetables; Scallop Trio with herb bacon kajmak and sweet potato chips and Grilled Tuna with coconut cauliflower purée. Seafood dishes range in price from $9 to $13.
Tempting meat dishes include BABA's Preferred Platter with duck prosciutto, lardo, hard sheep cheese, honey, and quail egg with trout mousse; Steak Tartare with hand cut beef fillet, capers, pickled cauliflower, and fresh veggies, and Dry - Aged Ribeye with thyme butter and parmesan cream. Meat dishes range in price from $6 to $13. For a sweet finish, one can look forward to gluten-free desserts such as Parsnip Mousse with bitter chocolate mousse, salt and olive oil, or Forest gnocchi with chocolate mousse, bitter orange cake, ground chocolate, orange gelee, tarragon gnocchi, passion fruit espuma and black tea sauce. Celiac disease is a genetic autoimmune disease, which damages the small intestine. The small intestine is part of the gut, which digests & absorbs nutrients from food.
